VICTIMS
My name is Hayley Todd, i am 17 years old and i am a victim of cyber bullying. As i was growing up i was a normal kid, 2 brothers, married parents who cared for and loved me and of course i cant forget Pippa and Dexter (my dogs). I had many friends in secondary school ,although i wasn't the most popular. When i was 15 i made a huge mistake that me being the naive teenage girl i was 2 years ago, didn't realize how much of an impact it would have on my life. I liked a boy and my friends peer pressured me into sending him an inappropriate picture of myself, after 2 years i am not going to blame the consequences on any one but myself. I thought the boy would only carry on speaking to me and liking me if i sent him this picture so i did, thinking i could trust him. 'Don't judge a book by its cover' they say, normally in cases where you are negatively judging someone by the way they look however i my case i was judging this boy by the way he acted and looked towards me in a positive way but i thought wrong. 3 hours after i sent this picture to him it had been posted on social media, snapchat ,Instagram, Facebook. People i had never herd of in my life sending me disturbing messages that will haunt me forever. People who i thought were my friends messaging me sending me hate messages and telling me to kill myself. After about 2 months it had got worse and worse. The affects this picture had on my life was nothing like i would have ever imagined, the police had to get involved as i was under the legal age. 2 years on and i have had counselling, i have been to see therapists and i am doing a lot better, this doesn't go to say how me sending one stupid picture will continue to affect me in life, i had a interview for a fashion company, something i have always wanted to do in life, somehow they managed to find my history and didn't take me on. My life was affected horrendously. It was one picture that changed my life. Think before you post.
